Intern on the jobCity of Worthington Economic Development Internship Program
The City of Worthington maintains an Economic Development Internship Program during academic semesters throughout the year. This position assists the economic development manager in the city’s ongoing business retention efforts, with duties such as contacting existing businesses in Worthington to schedule on-site business visits; participating in such on-site visits; attending local and regional economic development seminars and events; and additional economic development-related tasks that may be assigned.

Requirements & Responsibilities
The city seeks to fill its internship position with students in graduate and undergraduate programs in the areas of public administration, city and regional planning, economics, and political science. The position is unpaid and involves about eight hours per week of work in the city; it is up to the student as to how those hours are scheduled during the typical work week. One position is available per academic semester, including summer terms.

Ideal candidates are those students wanting to learn about economic development practices and theory in a real-world setting. Further, the student must be comfortable making phone calls, sending email messages, and going on personal visits to reach businesses in Worthington.
