Community Shred & E-Waste Drop-off Day

Tuesday, April 18

Chamber members and the public are invited to participate in a Community Shred & E-Waste Drop-Off Day on Tuesday, April 18th. Shred Day offers an opportunity for safe disposal of both sensitive documents and used electronic devices.

Identity theft has become one of the fastest growing crimes in the United States. One of the most effective ways to protect against identity theft is to shred sensitive financial and personal information.

As a "cost" for the services, donations will be accepted for Chamber-sponsored scholarships. Both cash and check donations will be accepted.

Royal Document Destruction, a certified AAA National Association of Information Destruction (NAID®) provider and a recipient of the Business First “Fast Fifty” award., will conduct mobile shredding at the event.

Businesses and residents can clear out old tax files or sensitive information, protect against identify theft, help the environment and support Chamber-sponsored scholarships by dropping off these types of documents:

Legal documents
  • Tax and medical records
  • Bank statements and old checks
  • Credit card statements
  • Financial records
  • Insurance documents
  • Any other sensitive paper documents

Experienced professionals from Royal Document Destruction will shred sensitive documents on-site at a mobile shred truck, for your immediate inspection. Each box should be a size that a person of average strength can lift and carry. To prevent sensitive documents from spilling out and blowing away, open boxes or bags are not accepted.

According to the EPA, to make 1 ton of paper using recycled fiber saves 17 trees, 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space, 360 gallons of water, 100 gallons of gasoline, 60 pounds of air pollutants and10,401 kilowatts of electricity.

Not only can you shred old documents, but you can also dispose of old office equipment safely at our e-waste drop off. This event offers an opportunity to discard computer monitors, laptops, printers, cell phones or chargers, which will be recycled in an environmentally friendly way. Any of these items will be accepted:

  • AC adaptors
  • Cables
  • Calculators
  • Cash drawers
  • Cell phones
  • Computers
  • Fax machines
  • Phones
  • Copiers
  • Printers
  • Laptops
  • LCD monitors
  • PDAs
  • Power cords
  • Point-of-sale equipment
  • Keyboards and mice
  • Servers
  • Typewriters
  • Projectors
  • Routers
  • Speakers
  • Any other computer- or office-related electronics

(CRT monitors and tube televisions may be disposed of with an additional fee.)
